    Senior Backend Engineer

    Design and build the data pipelines, edge functions, and APIs that power Heed's tax intelligence engine. You'll work with Postgres, Deno, and real-time event systems at scale.

    What you'll do

    • •Architect and maintain Supabase Edge Functions (Deno/TypeScript) that power tax change ingestion, alerting, and scenario analysis
    • •Design and optimise Postgres schemas for multi-jurisdiction tax data with RLS policies
    • •Build queue-based email delivery and real-time notification pipelines
    • •Integrate third-party APIs (Stripe billing, AI models, government data sources)
    • •Own reliability: monitoring, error handling, and graceful degradation across all backend services

    What we're looking for

    • •5+ years backend engineering experience with TypeScript or JavaScript
    • •Strong PostgreSQL skills: query optimisation, migrations, row-level security
    • •Experience with serverless/edge compute (Deno, Cloudflare Workers, or similar)
    • •Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup with minimal process
    • •Clear written communication. We're async-first and remote

    Nice to have

    • •Familiarity with Supabase or Firebase ecosystem
    • •Prior fintech, regtech, or tax-domain experience
    • •Experience with AI/LLM integration in production systems
